Meet the Team
My name is Evan Wickens. I’m sixteen years old and a Sophomore at Columbus High School. This is my third season in FTC and fifth in FIRST. My role on the team is building the robot and drawing it on CAD. My favorite thing to do in robotics is when things work how they're supposed to the first time. My goal this year is to learn some more programming. An activity I do outside of robotics is Marching Band. In my free time, I play video games with friends, read, and play with my two cats. In the future, I would like to major in an engineering field during college.
My name is Austin Wickens. I am sixteen years old and attend Columbus High School as a sophomore. This is my second year of FTC and my fifth year of FIRST. On the team, my role is to help build the robot and to drive during competition. My favorite part about robotics is seeing the robot progress from the beginning of the season to the end. My goal this year is to learn more about programming and to use more power tools. Outside of robotics I run cross country and track for my school. I also play trumpet in the marching band. In my free time, I like to read, play video games with friends, hang out with friends, play with my two cats and sleep. In the future, I would like to attend the Air Force Academy and major in either some type of engineering or computer science.
Hi, my name is Noah Holoubek and I am 15 years old. I attend school at Clarkson Public Schools as a freshman. This FTC season will be my fourth as well as being my seventh year participating in FIRST. On our team, my job is being the head programmer, website developer, and organizing some outreach projects (such as FTCHelp). I would say that my favorite thing to do in robotics is experimenting with programming and the new features to be deployed each year with the FTC app master. Throughout this season, I would like to expand my knowledge of mechanical assembly. Outside of robotics, I am involved in many different activities. One activity that I participate in is one act and I stream all of our home athletic games. I also have developed (and are currently developing) different programs and apps for our school (such as web apps, mobile apps, and additional live stream effects). I also have a job working for Best Point as a web designer. In my free time between those activities, I am working with The Orange Alliance in developing new additions to their website and other services. I am also creating an iOS application for The Orange Alliance. When I’m not working on developing new applications, making videos, or taking pictures, I enjoy playing video games (Fortnite is my personal favorite) and spending time with friends. Reading is another activity that I really enjoy doing in my free time. My future plans in the aspect of jobs are still undecided. I have a general idea that I would like to go into a field dealing with technology and programming. Some things that interest me are fields in quantum science, computer science, genetic science, and AI research.
Hi, my name is Kiersten Preister. I’m a sixteen-year-old homeschooled junior in high school. This will be my fourth season in FTC and eighth in FIRST. My main role and favorite thing to do on the team is the engineering notebook. My personal goals this season are to help with the robot and programming more than I have in the past. The activities that I do outside of robotics are; 4-H, dance, gymnastics, help at my dance studio, coach at gymnastics and volunteer at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha as a zoo crew. In my free time, I dance, hang out with friends, practice my flips, exercise, listen to music, and play with my six cats. In the future, I am not exactly sure where I want to study but I would like to pursue something in Hospitality Tourism Restaurant Management with maybe a minor in Dance.
Hello, my name is John Vuchetich I am a sixteen-year-old junior at Norfolk Catholic (High School) this will be my first year in FTC and in any first robotics League. I met The Caffeinated Robots at a seminar for first Lego robotics, was invited to attend a meeting and quickly joined the team. The physical robot along with the coding to make it function have always held interest to me, unfortunately, Norfolk currently has no team for such events that takes in new members. Some other activities I take part in aside from my work, faith, and academics are bowling, one act, quiz bowl, chess club, and weekly game-nights. My personal goal for the season in FTC is to learn what activities and events go along with a robotics team as well as increasing my knowledge of robotics in general. I plan to get teaching and administration degree in college and teach science on a high school level, I feel that the well-documented process of building a robot will be a helpful experience to look back on later in my life.
Hi, I am Mitchell Fittje I am 15 years old and a Sophomore at Lakeview High school. This will be my third year in FTC and my seventh in FIRST. My job on the team is building driving and writing down pizza orders. I hope to get better at building and driving as the year goes on, I am also trying to improve my note-taking. I am involved in Band and Speech. In my free time, I play video games and listen to music. In the future, I want to pursue a career in Engineering.
My name is John Langhorst. I am an 18-year-old senior at Clarkson Public Schools. This is my first year participating in any FTC or FIRST Robotics Programs. I joined the team to help out with the mechanical aspects, because Noah and Kiersten insisted that I was needed. My personal goals for the season are to learn how the programming, and design aspects come together to ensure that the robot functions properly. My favorite parts of meetings are assembling different prototype models and making sure they work as intended. My time spent aside from FTC is spent at school, where I participate in football, wrestling, speech, one act, quiz bowl, FFA, and FCCLA. In my free time I enjoy watching movies, or spending time outdoors. In the future I plan to attend Northeast Community College, where I will major in Pre-Engineering and Accounting.
